Partners

Partners, institutional support, and a local eco-system in running order

Three major partners

Bombardier transport

FrancilienBombardier Transport France is a major player in the French railway industry. Bombardier designs and builds an innovative range of trains at its Crespin site in Valenciennes, which employs more than 2000 people. It also offers high-quality technical systems and maintenance services. Bombardier Transport France is the French subsidiary of the world's leading railway solutions manufacturer, with operations in over 60 countries and its global headquarters in Berlin.

Prosyst

Prosyst, an SME based in Valenciennes specializing in control systems, develops and markets products and methods for development, monitoring, analysis, diagnostics, and simulation, providing innovative and original solutions to industrial problems as yet unresolved. These products and methods, derived from technology transfer, and implemented by specialists within the framework of high-quality services, enable them to control the launch of automation projects and to improve and optimize the performance of existing installations. They are the result of its links with research centres and its 20 years of experience during which exemplary partnerships have been built with renowned customers in all industrial sectors, as well as with major manufacturers and public organizations.

Polytechnic University Hauts-de-France

The Polytechnic University Hauts-de-France (UPHF) welcomes over 10000 students on human-sized campuses in Valenciennes, Cambrai, and Maubeuge. In addition to the quality of its courses, and the content fuelled by 7 research laboratories, the UPHF is recognized for its undergraduate and graduate employment rates, which are among the best in France. The university also nurtures a strong research policy which makes it possible to reinforce, upstream, the link with training and, downstream, the promotion of transfer activities. It is recognized as a regional leader and a major player in national and international research in the field of sustainable transport and mobility.

TERStrong institutional support

  • The CNRS, through its INS2I institute, guarantees the scientific content of the activities undertaken within the joint laboratory,
  • The Hauts-de-France region provides financial support (deliberation no. 20160866),
  • The I-Trans competitiveness cluster has approved SurferLab and has been providing advice and suport for the partners since the first FUI SURFER project.

SurferLab strives to work with several entities within this ecosystem, in particular:

  • Valenciennes Metropolitan Community (CAVM), which maintains close relations with the UPHF and industries located in the region of Valenciennes, notably Prosyst and Bombardier Transport.
  • The Transalley Technopole, of which the main mission is to facilitate, on its site of Famars, the establishment of research and innovation in the field of rail transport through incubators and startups as well as a research and training centre.
  • IRT Railenium, dedicated to developing R&D in the field of rail transport and rail infrastructures.
  • ENSIAME, which is a school of engineering recognized in the field of transport and which, through its lecturers-researchers and students, already works in close collaboration with SurferLab's partners.
